Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Police report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report early analysis show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet aware of any harm in connection with the incident," they stated.
City officials stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.
An important political figure commented the incident left him stunned and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he posted on online, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
