A man who contaminated treats with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer program in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two young males aged nine and 10.

The defendant was arrested after eight youngsters and one adult experienced illness at the location in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.

The defendant was kept in jail ahead of a subsequent court date on late November.

'Treat game'

Mary Prior KC, prosecuting, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.

She stated his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a youth camp which he ran.

The man played a "treat game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and request they to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".

She stated to the judge the man had conducted this practice with the children "for many years", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the next day.

She explained the defendant had been able to explain this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had worries in summer 2025.

Mrs Prior KC continued: "Recently" his stepchild had concerns about the activities, justifiably.

"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."

The prosecutor explained materials including lubricant, petroleum jelly and syringes were discovered, and his stepchild notified the police about his suspicions.

She said the defendant proceeded to play the "sweet game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the next day.

"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that time," she added.

The regulatory agency, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was examining law enforcement's management of the situation.

Mrs Prior explained the youngsters were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the stepson notified the law enforcement again.

She stated the man then engaged in the "sweet game" in a area of five children.
